Give Your Home and Garden a New Lease of Life

Hello, my name is Iggy and I live in Perth, Australia. Last month, I was out in my garden enjoying the sunshine when I noticed that there was something strange on my roof. I climbed up onto the roof of my home and discovered some damage. While I was up on the roof, I took a long look down at my garden. Seeing it from such a strange angle made me realise how overgrown it looked. The next day I called in some contractors to fix the problems. While they worked, they taught me plenty of cool tips and tricks.

Why Fabric Awnings Are a Great Option for Your Home

There has been a lot of pretty major improvements for manufacturing awnings of all shapes and sizes over the past several decades. Now, metal awnings are far easier to produce, as well as strong plastic and well-treated wood awnings. Many boast the ability to stand up to the elements better than your traditional fabric awnings. However, that is not the whole picture when it comes to the reasons why one might buy an awning. If you are looking for an option that is a little more out of the box but still boasts plenty of usability, then here are a few reasons why fabric awnings might be your best bet.

Aesthetically Pleasing

No matter how you dress up a metal or plastic awning, it will be very clear what it is made out of. It provides a bit of an industrial look that many people are not fond of. Many people don't want to feel like they are living inside a warehouse, and that is where fabric awnings shine. They create a much softer feel, with an ode to an older time where all you would see are fabric awnings and white picket fences. Many people find this rustic look much more attractive and are willing to put up with slightly reduced durability.

Customisable

Fabric awnings are much easier to change than metal awnings ever could be. Not only are the colours and patterns very easy to swap if you want to, but the range is truly staggering. You can find synthetic fabrics that are better at holding their shape over the years, or perhaps you want to go fully traditional and keep it as old-fashioned as possible with natural materials. These colours also look much better than they do on metal or plastic awnings, as those paints will chip and come off much quicker than the dye in your fabric awnings.

No Slouch in Bad Weather

While it is undeniable that fabric awnings are often less durable than metal or hard plastic, that does not mean they are bad at withstanding poor weather. These types of awnings have also seen an increase in their production quality, and they are now much more resistant to mould growth, sagging, weakening of fibres and so on. While you may need to change the actual fabric every once in a while, often that cost is offset by how inexpensive they were to install to begin with when compared to metal awnings that are much more expensive.
